EA Sports: Wii All-Play

Published by GameSource Admin at 9:48 am under News Edit This

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced their 2008 lineup of family-friendly games for the Nintendo Wii under their All-Play label.  All-Play sports games were designed to accommodate the needs of both the experienced gamer and the first-time gamer by including novice and advance control schemes.

The lineup consists of Tiger Woods PGA Tour, NCAA Football, Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, and NBA Live.  According to EA, NCAA Football ’09 will feature more than 200 schools and will be released mid-July.  Madden NFL, scheduled to release mid-August, will feature a 5 vs. 5 big-head mode… and I love big-head mode :-)  Tiger Woods PGA Tour, set to release towards the end of August, will feature enhanced motion-controlled swing modes and an online play with up to four players.  NBA Live is still being configured to improve the Wiimote responsiveness compared to its previous release and will put the game on the shelves within the first two weeks of October.  And last but not least, FIFA Soccer will incorporate your Mii’s and launch “Footii Party Games” for more to enjoy!  This game is scheduled to release in mid-October.

It sounds like a smart gamble by EA. Obviously, the Wii additions of the EA Sports line isn’t going to be able to compete graphically with the XBox360 and PS3, so the All-Play gamble is to latch hold onto a more casual gaming crowd and get them into those games.

I’ve got NCAA 2009 and Madden 2009 SE pre-ordered from my XBox360, but I’m interested in looking at them on my Wii too just to see what they are like on that platform.
